hi i am wanting to change from tiscali to ukfsn with the migration code, i am wonder if anyone know what happens in the billing department will i end up paying for one month with tiscali and one month with ukfsn or will they only make me pay for the amount of day i have been with tiscali and vice verse with ukfsn

thx for the help ali

It depends on the terms of your contract with Tiscali whether they'll charge you for anything after you ask for the MAC code. UKFSN (or Entanet to be more accurate) will want payment for the first month when you place the order.

A MAC code is valid for 30 days, therefore you have to pay for those 30 days on Tosscali regardless of wether you are up and running on UKFSN in a weeks time, but once you migrate to UKFSN you cancel the DD for Tosscali, the ***** wouldn't stop billing me for months, i was forever phoning them and telling them id migrated, so your best of cancelling the DD yourself when you migrate, i did eventually get them to stop and got a refund for all the months they took, but it was a ******* nightmare, trouble with a CC DD is they can still get the money, even when you cancel your CC and get a new one as well, as i done all that, and still they could get the money.

The problem with a "CC DD" is it isn't a Direct Debit at all, so you've got next to no protection.

Not quite. If you timed the billing periods right, you could leave just before the month you'd paid for was up and so avoid paying for much (if anything) more than you'd used.
If Tiscali wanted, they could refund the difference between what you'd paid and what you'd used though, but good luck getting any sense out of them.

I can't see how as when I was with AOL last year, I rang up my bank and made out that I had lost my card.

I asked to have a different 16 digit card number and when I received the new card, 2 numbers were different so AOL couldn't take any more money out after I had migrated to Zen.

The expiry date was also different by the way.

This worked for me ;)

Didnt work for me, my new card only had a couple of digits changed also, but yet they could still take the money, the bank said if its a DD set up by CC then it can't be stopped regardless of wether you get a new card etc... she just told me to start keeping records of conversations i have with them etc... then take that to the bank and they will then step in, but luckily they finally stopped before i had to do all that. :)

My bank also blocked the card to prevent fraud so that could explain why it worked for me.

Anyway we are both sorted now so why worry ;)
