My parents are moving away and my older brother is moving in with me.

We want to cancel our BT ADSL connection, and then move my brothers Orange ADSL connection to this house.

Should I prepare for some downtime? Anyone got any suggestions? He is in a 12 month contract.

Phone BT, ask for your mac code. Phone orange, give them the mac code BT give you and wait till your internet goes down. Input the new login details into your router (unless orange supply you with one). And away you go.

Bare in mind your over your 12 month period with BT.

You aren't migrating, so a MAC key would be completely useless - you're cancelling one and moving house with the other.

You'd have the usual activation downtime once the BTR service has disappeared.

Why not Migrate though ? Means the OP will have down time so why cancel if it's to the same house?

Reread: Cancel BT, and then move the service on Orange to the new house. I really need to read posts correctly.
