count yourself lucky! i have just finished 15,500 words of coursework for 2nd year geography at uni and have had to start revising for an exam today :( lol

good luck though!

Thanksm, you too. Think ill just get a usb mic that should solve the problem, though that means i need to sort out the fact that one of my front usb's doesn't work...then i need to get onto the fact that coh expansion pack wont even install... or perhaops the fact taht WIC sometimes crashs saying display driver not responding... or perhaps the fact that supreme comander some times crashs and its expansion pack alwsays crashs when i hit restart. Oblivion also randomly crashs.

OOO and that its not stable at 9x400fbs (3.2ghz) at 1.450v

I got a screwed up mobo i thinks. And ocuk screwed me over 3 times on deleivery. If i had of got it the first time this would never of happened. Instead my friends works fine even though his was ordered a week after mine but mine ended up being 2 and ahalf weeks late after 3 screw ups.

Try going in to properties then custom and ticking the microphone boost box, also go into levels and move the slider all the way to the right.

No mic on/off switch on an in-line remote is there? I have done that many times.

I have had many problems with it (Vista and X-fi) and got mine working.

I have the Creative Fatality headset. The pink microphone jack goes into the back of my soundcard (using an extension cable), the green headphone jack goes into the front port on my X-fi front module (using a 1/4" jack).

How are you testing if it works? Are you using Teamspeak?

Which port are you using for the mic? Front module or on your soundcard? On the front module there is a volume control for the mic (silver knob on the right I think).

i dont ahve any silver knob but im using the sopund card anyway. its in the top port which is ment for the mic i know it is. And it didn't work in the pink or any other of the spare ports in the onboard soundl. Which was before i even had the xfi so i know its not a compatibility. i really dont think its the hardware as my friend who has the same pc has the same problem.

Strange, I have mine in the rear port too. And in the Recording Devices window it says it is currently unavailable, but I know it works with Teamspeak.

Few other things, long shots, disable your on-board sound, see if that is causing a conflict.

Also try: go through each item in the Recording Devices list and set their levels to max and add mic boost if there is the option. It took me a long time to find which item in the list corresponded to my microphone.

it is dissable and im not sure waht you mean about going through the recording list. As you can see from the screenshots above, i donty see how they have anything to do with the mic apart from the mic one.
