Hi I have RB2011UiAS-2HnD-IN and I just cant get it to work, I am using a Billion 8800nl in bridge mode as a modem.

It may be a compatibily problem

What have you tried so far? I think BT Infinity uses PPPoE so on the Mikrotik you'll need to add your credentials under /interface pppoe-client (via console access, if using the web interface click Interfaces -> pppoe-client) and set add default route to yes. Have you done this? And I take it the 8800nl has been used by others with Infinity?

I've never been on infinity purely responding as I've used mikrotiks extensively.

Cheers

Ppp client as advised above. Check in the status tab in Winbox and see if it's connecting, does it connect and you can't get out our not connect at all?

I doubt it will be compatibility as the tiks can do anything.

Firstly thank you both for your replies, and yes i have applied the settings as above and also tried a hard reset and tried again, tried a few things i read on some other forum posts else where, I think its a faulty unit since the box had been opened before by the looks of it.

The router attempts to connect but does not. I am using the standard user name for bt that works with my other router i.e [email protected] and blank password that shout work on the MikroTik i have also tried using bt as the password as some routers don't like blank passwords.

They can be a bit tricky with PPP stuff. What do the logs say while it tries to connect? And have you definitely left ac-name and service-name fields blank? The examples on Mikrotiks own website specify things like "Internet" in service-name but this should be left blank as it's actually used as part of the PPP conversation which you don't want (unless BT specify something should be set there)

Yes I have left them blank, I am now thinking it maybe the router I am using in bridge mode is not releasing the MAC of my current router/firewall, I have a Openreach modem on the way to try that (should be here tomorrow).

The logging shows it attempting to connect and then disconnecting over and over again.

Interested to know this, I'm sure it will work with the Openreach modem.
***Don't you have to specify VLAN101 with BT fibre somewhere?

The VLAN tagging happens in the modem. An Openreach modem just needs a PPPoE session thrown at it.

If you're having issues see what your MTU is set to, you shouldn't be trying to use 1500 on PPPoE.

I am using 1492 MTU, but interesting about the vlan because i have that set in my older router not sure about the bridged one i cant seem to log into that now, with luck the new modem will fix things.

Be interesting to know as I'm toying with throwing an FTTC in as a second line and mine would terminate into an RB2011 same as yours.

Ok Openreach box arrived today from fleebay plugged in left for a minute till stable, hooked up the router and a laptop to the router it had internet before i had logged in, now all i have to sort the wifi out win8.1 dont like it and my mums tablet keep trying to obtain an ip address but it does not get one, but that can be worked out later

I just wanted to update this thread, I got it all sorted after a week it was just a checkbox in the router settings, I must say so far this router has been rock solid and runs very cool cpu runs at about 6% max most of the time when i have looked. coupled with the open reach modem i have yet to have a dropout and getting 37.22 down and 8.62 up on a 38/10
