Milk - Best Before

I'm sick of milk going off days before the best before date. I've measured the temperatures in my fridge and it's a steady 4c.

I always get skimmed milk, either 1 pint or 2 pints, usually from Tesco.

I got a 2 pint on Friday, dated 28th, and I've just chucked it because it's off on the 21st.

Anyone/everyone else have this problem?

Usually says 'consume within 3 days' which takes precedent over the use by.

I get cravendale because it stays fresh for 7 days after opening, ends up being less wasteful and costs me less.

My milk easily lasts a week. Try a different supplier. I buy Wiseman, and it's fine for at least a week generally - And I often leave it out on the counter for hours a time.

There are two options here, buy cravendale or drink more milk.

I think you should do both.

I've found milk from any supermarket lasts for ages, I've never had it go off when it's been in the fridge, even after over a week. I don't see the need to buy Cravendale, I suspect the supermarkets filter it these days anyway to get it to last that long. Maybe you have a sensitive sense of smell?

Edit: actually maybe they don't filter the standard milk as they sell filtered milk for a higher price as well.

I don't get this problem with ordinary supermarket milk or the stuff delivered to the door.... How long does it take you to finish a bottle from when you open it? (as if it's open for a while that might be the cause).

I like Cravendale milk it tastes much fresher/nicer imo,As for milk going off...i wouldnt know really we get through a 2 point bottle very fast between 4 of us so its quickly replaced. :)

Not sure what you're doing, but I've rarely had milk go off even within the week after the use by date. Are you sure you're not just sniffing the top of the bottle where the crusty milk remains?

I can't say I've had this problem. Do you leave the milk out for a long time, or drink from the bottle?
