Milk in a Thermos?

Bought a Thermos with the intention of taking some milk to work with me and keeping it cold (for obvious reasons) but upon reading the small print it says not suitable for milk or baby food products. It's very vague saying something about bacteria growth but if I'm only leaving it there for the working day (9 hours max) and it spends most of that time sealed surely it will be ok? Has anyone else ever kept milk in one? Or do I need a different kind of container? :( .

If you put milk in the tea and leave it for hours it does kinda curdle but I always assumed that was because it was in the hot tea. Don't think it would go manky if it was the only thing in the thermos.

I've been taking milk to work in my small steel thermos for years, no problem. Poured straight from the fridge into the flask it keeps cool all day.

It might be that milk promotes bacteria growth on the inner walls. While the milk itself would be fine it might contaminate whatever you put in the flask AFTER you use it for milk?

Bacteria could certainly be a problem if you don't sterilize it at reasonable intervals - which most people probably wouldn't bother to do.

It's for stupid people who end up giving their babies food poisoning?

They are just covering themselves?

Maybe, but if you clean it properly between use, no problem I would imagine............ ;)

Encouraging! :) .

Won't be used for anything except milk. It's stainless steel in and out by the way.

It should be ok but it will get hotter throughout the day due to the warming properties of the flask.
Packaging says it keeps things either hot OR cold for 24hrs+, it keeps heat both in AND out.

This was my thinking. It's a "worst case scenario" perhaps?

How often are you talking? Would washing it every day not be enough?

I've used it for other stuff too at the weekends, tea, coffee, Bovril etc. If you clean it between uses, I'm sure you won't die. :)

<edit> Warm soapy water is fine, then swill it out with Bicarb solution, will kill off any lingering odours </edit>
