Pretty ridiculous this. I spilt milk all over my desk, all over my Goliathus and all on my MX-518. Now the left click button is not terrible but feels funny and sticks slightly. Anybody know the best way to fix this? Will it involve taking my mouse apart and cleaning the cheese? out?

:rolleyes::p

Have you tired milking it? :p

You will need to open it and clean it out with chemical based cleaners. As i would assume the micro switch is very sticky now.

Personally I would use washing up liquid and water solution. The most important bit is to ensure it is absolutely dry before you connect it up.
Open it up, clean with washing up solution and a paintbrush.
Dry with hairdryer on warm (not hot) setting.
When you think it is dry throughout put in a warm place for a few days (above radiator, in airing cupboard etc).
Then finish re-assembling and try it.

sorry to hijack but re the above

but do modern mice contain pcbs with solder points on them, was wondering if drying it off by exposing it to warm dry air for long periods this way would potentially run the risk of leaving you with dry solder joints

i've a similar problem and was curious

No Thekwango, a dry solder joint has nothing to do with water. It is a badly soldered joint in which the liquid solder did not properly flow (and therefore "wet") around the parts being soldered.
