Milky Way shots

So I found myself in a massive black spot (Fraser Island, Australia) and all I had with me was my trusty Sony RX100ii and a knock off gorilla pod from Aldi.

In the end I was really pleased with the shots...

Beautiful shots, love them. It's been years since I've been under really dark skies, seeing this makes me want to experience it again.

How have you managed to get a little of the milky way with the RX100?

I was in the Sahara recently so a total dark sky site. Unfortunately the fastest lens I had with me was a 35/2.8 but even on the A7 at 3200iso and over 20s there was no chance of seeing the milky way.

You could see the milky way with the naked eye, it was amazing.
Think I did 24mm f1.4 ISO 1600 30 seconds.
Three camera really blew me away on that trip, was so much easier to lug around than my 6d +lenses

Brilliant shots. Wish mine were that good when we were recently out in the Sahara. That Sony really is very good.

Fair enough. I guess the Sahara just isn't the place. Perhaps I'll have better luck on the Chilean Altiplano.

Heard lots of great things about the RX100. Tempted to get one as a pocket camera.
