Min spec gpu and recommended

Just about to put a rig together what would you recommend as min spec for gpu and the recommended spec

I was thinking min ad a 3060 and recommended as a 3070ti

I was thinking of getting a 3060ti as they are easier to come by but will it be enough

Think you will be fine with either (if you can get one), I'm rocking a Vega 56 and whilst I won't have it at full whack - it still holds up pretty well. 3070Ti will give you a longer lifetime.

PS - get the 3060Ti over the 3060 if you go that way especially if you bag one at RRP.
 
3060Ti is the minimum you should get now.

And looking at the prices, you would be far better off getting a prebuilt PC. You would get a lot more GPU for your buck.
 
i wouldn't get a new GPU , until you have changed your CPU and that first, otherwise you will bottleneck that CPU

I'm not talking VR now, but i had an i5 6600K and put a 5700 XT GPU in, and it bottlenecked it, some games would be fine, others would just be worse than before.

You misunderstood my post the gpu is for a new rig I am building not for the one in my specs
 
op, what vr headset u choose can have some effect i.e. choose a rift and you'll get away with a lesser spec pc. but a G2 will need more a grunt behind it etc.
 
PS as someone mentioned earlier, pre-built PCs are your best bet. However there is 30X0FE thread over in the Graphics sub forum with details of 'drops' where a retailer or nVidia release extremely limited stock at RRP - usually gone in seconds to minutes.
