Not changed much over the years, can still run it on a very low specced machine. There have been quite a few effects added in over time, but they can all be dialed down or disabled if your PC can't take it.
 
only thing is i sometimes play on my laptoip which is about the recommended spec and it's fine to play but.... when the loading screen comes up for dalaran or wintergrasp some times its takes so long to load up and combined with the lag from those areas i cant log in as it times out.... anywhere else in the world it's fine, just have to be lucky with the log in :)

think its a c2d t7300 2ghz~, 1gb ram, win xp, nvidia 8400m gs.

i play wirth pretty much everything on the lowest settings apart from draw distance, need this to see loads of alliance running at ya in bg's XP
 
WoW is actually pretty demanding on high settings, and I dunno why cause it looks crap. :p

(ignoring the shadow setting)
 
i played it recently on amd64 3200 / 1.5gb memory and an x800

high fps in all the wow classic areas , tbc is still good around 40-60fps apart from shattrath where it was around 30fps.

most of wotlk is 40fps but ocasionaly some areas are in the low 30s , dalaran isnt to bad i managed to keep above 20fps there.

alterac valley was horrible though dropped down to 10-20fps for some reason, i was okay in other areas where a lot of people were around.

graphics settings didnt make much difference to the fps and the gpu stayed really cool barely above idle temps so i doubt it was beeing used much.

the game probably only cares about how fast your cpu is.

warhammer online actually runs better on the same comp.

I can play it at maxed out (apart from shadows) @1680x1050 on my system and it's happy to sit there at 50-60fps+ all day, well apart from Shattrah.

Athlon X2 4200+ @ 2.6GHz
2GB PC3200
512MB 7900GS

I have the game, I dont have the computer to play it on. Im building a computer for travelling with and wondering if the onboard for that motherboard would be ok as I didnt want to fork out for another graphics card if i didnt have to.

So if the 7100 runs wow ok I can just keep that for a while.
 
One of my friends at work managed to be playing it on his Acer Netbook which a good enough framerate to play in, was minimal graphics but still playable.
 
Works on my laptop with a 3200 mobility Radeon quite well, good engine but the shadows are an extremely big performance hog.

Turning them down 1-2 notches results in 10-20 more FPS but looks identical...bizarre!

I never play it on my laptop though.

Oh and by the way, if you force AA via your graphics card options instead of using the in-game settings it tends to look a little nicer and run better in my experience on a 4870. :) Can't believe how old the game engine actually is but it still looks quite nice, the lack of jaggies does wonders for it. Grizzly Hills is probably my favourite zone. (for design/visuals)

Do you play the game with all full settings with your 4870? And what AA do you have on? What FPS does this give?

Usually 60 (vsync), dips to 40's and 50's when looking over large areas like one side of Icecrown to the other, but most of the time it's at 60 or so. Does drop a lot in Dalaran if packed and in raids it will drop quite a bit when lots is going on.

All full settings at 1920x1200 with 4x AA forced in CCC, I have shadow quality knocked down 2 notches as it looks the same but the performance difference is insane.

What CPU do you have?

Sorry for all the questions, just trying to sort out the Max settings I can get, seem's I made a mistake all this time running shadow's at full. :o

Well its a bit like a Nvidia 7600, with all the ram stripped out and the core crippled. The 7600 is a bit slower than an ATi x1800, so going by that, I imagine the 7100 will be a bit slower than the x1600, which is the Recommended GPU, but it'll be faster than a 9600. I think. :D

If you go that route AFAIK the 7100 will share your system memory, so get a load of that in when you're speccing your PC up so you don't cripple it any more than it already is.

Why you'd want to do any of this when you can pick up something cheap like a HD4650 for as little as 40 quid is beyond me, as the 4650 will certainly blow a 7100 out of the water.
 
I wouldnt like to try the original min spec's with the last 2 expantions installed. But the game has aged quite well, so you dont need cutting edge stuff to play it with good settings.
