I've got some minced beef, it's dated yesterday, when I checked this morning it was all still red, and didn't have any of the weird brown bits you get on it..

Would it still be ok to eat? do they put it a day early to cover their backs?

I don't trust milk on the day, but meat is different..:o:)

burn it, everyone knows that anything outside of use by date will kill you as soon as sonn as you look at it :O

these threads are starting to get really annoying.

cook it and eat it, stop being a girl.

Without a doubt it will be fine.

But you don't trust milk a day out....how odd you are.

as a one time paper/scissors/rock loser in uni, i did a shot of milk that had been on top of the fridge for about 4 months

now i can't handle smell of the top of a milk bottle if it's within a few days of being 'out' :p

plus i have no large intestine, so don't want to be ill from it :o

if it aint brown, i'll cook it till it is, then eat it

remeber that once you cook it all the germs would have died anyway - if its smells dodgy dont eat it but yeah im still here and eaten meat a few days past due date! I know my fridge is generally clean without mould and stuff and assuming it still sealed it should be fine!

Brown meat is normal. bright red meat is rubbish. Supermarkets coat it in a chemical that stops it turning brown.

Don't check for brown, check for smell and a slimey feel.

But it should be more than fine for a few days yet.

brown mince is fine, just been exposed to air. Smelly beef is not good.

Good lord, the human race spends thousands (millions?) of years developing a sense of smell to tell you if you can eat something, and you ask on a computer forum?

Sell by dates are the biggest load of tosh. We throw aways thousands of tonnes of food every year and buy new food from the very people who tell us when it's ok to eat ours and when it isn't.

supermarkets have it all worked out, and we play right along.
