I'd love to hear some ideas about what to do with mince...i'm a student so obviously i don't want too many ingredients and i want something simple. :o

What can the people of OcUK recommend? :)

Burgers, add onions, chilli whatever and 1 egg to bind and shape into burgers. I do add breadcrumbs as well but not everyone does.

mince you say.......

If I have some mince, I like doing some meatballs, so easy.

As mentioned above, you have to use egg to bind it together. I also recommend chilling them so they are firm and don't break apart during cook.

Just bung them into some Pasata or some mashed up tinned tomatoes, add some garlic and oregano. Serve with pasta of your liking :)

Definitely better with breadcrumbs - holds together better and has a better texture.

I'd make a bolognese or cottage/shepherds pie - in fact I'm doing that later in the week. Cost to make (well) £3.50 and it'll make 4 very large portions.

Fry and drain the mince, add sliced onion, carrot, turnip, a dash of lea and perrins and two oxo cubes. Fill the pot with water and reduce. Add some Bisto (when it's reduced to about half the pot) to thicken your gravy and remove to a plate when you can see the bottom of the pot when stirring. Enjoy it with boiled potatoes and a thick slab of buttered white bread. Lovely.

This sounds disgusting but it's one of the nicest pasta meals I've tasted (and v easy to make). Fry the mince with onion, drain the fat off. Get ahold of a can of condensed celery soup and add it to the pan with some ketchup, worcestershire sauce and cooked pasta. Heat it through and eat. Gorgeous. (Recipe detail here for proportions n stuff)

buritos - fajitas but with mince
Tacos - get a kit
Shepherds pie, with a normal sized packet of mince I chop 2 tomatoes, sweat them down with the mince, add some oxo stock while its slowly simmering, make up some gravy and dice some carrots(and maybe suede) and put em in gravy in the oven for a bit, then add it all together and whack the mash potato on top and leave in onion for 2hours on low heat, add cheese to potato if you want too, but DO NOT add milk to the potato, you want it to be dry not sloppy.
Could make burgers like said, its easy to make loads of diff types of em
Kebabs? i like making kebabs a bit like the burger recipes above, except obviously put spices and herbs etc in. then put them in pitta wraps or tortillas with some nice veg etc.

burgers

very simple to make and use little ingredients

finely chop and onion and fry for a few minutes on a low heat till soft
mix into the mince thoroughly with 1/2 tsp of salt
divide the mixture into however many burgers you want
compress and roll the divided meat into balls with the palms of your hands
now place each ball on a flat surface and punch it flat (try and keep it an even thickness all over) , press any bits round the edges back in

all you need to do now is fry them badboys :)
