I've just bought some jars of mincemeat from a well known supermarket and it's too sloppy to use. Any ideas on how to thicken it up without ruining a saucepan?

Maybe a spoonful of icing sugar? Or maybe a bag of cashew nuts rolled quite fine?

If in the run up to Christmas I discovered that my mince pies were too sloppy, I would for sure rush to join a computer shop forum for answers.

Maybe add some cornflour?

Has it maybe just settled in the jar and in need of stirring back up?

Buy another non sloppy jar of mincemeat and keep adding spoonful's to the sloppy jar until it has reached the desired thickness. It would also work the other way, so if the new jar turns out to be too thick, then the sloppy can be gradually added in the reverse of the above process. Be wary not to go too far, as you would then ultimately need a third jar to *trim* the thickness accurately.
