Right, to cut a long story short, i curbed my back left alloy and tyre by misjudging a corner. Looking back, I have no idea how i managed to do it, but i poked the kerb and had a nice little bounce off it.

After taking a look and taking a couple of pictures, I'm really desperately hoping that i dont have to change the tyre @ £80 a corner :(

From what I can see its a skuff on the tyre, quite shallow, but does it still constitute damage to the side wall of the tyre in the eyes of the law? I'm not too worried about having skuffed the alloy, theyre typical 'I cant judge the distance to the kerb' alloys :D

Ideas? Suggestions? :)

as far as i no your biggest worry should be if you get a bulge. i scuffed a kerb quite a while back on my front left (was tired) and only last week a bulge has appeared there, so its getting changed on wednesday, because where the rubber is thinner and no longer balanaced it can go at anytime, so thats probably your biggest concern :)

You a first timer? Man I nearly cried when it happened to me, the scars still there looking at it everyday :( Its identicle to yours, I will wait till I mash it up a bit more before I get it sorted :/ £80? lol only costs me £30-35 a wheel he makes it look brand new and you cannot see the scars! but mentally..:(

Ive scuffed the alloys a few times within a couple of months of passing my test, but from then until now its been fine. Its the first time I've done any real damage to the tyre itself. To add insult to injury, theyre quite new tyres; I wouldnt mind so much if it was at the front, as they dont have as much tread left in them :)

So should I just keep an eye on it and look for any bulge in the area and pray its alright? Is there anyway I can help to protect it and stop this happening?

Pffft 80 quid for a V rated tyre? What size are they

I would tell you, but when i skuffed them the time before, i took the writing off the side :P heh

theyre 15-16inch low profiles, not sure on the exact size. Had them changed last may @ my annual service with ford.
