Mine craft fails to load after GPU upgrade?

Evening all

I built my son a of over the weekend and had the R6950 2GB installed as a stop gap and mine craft loaded fine, then managed to bag an RX580 8GB installed that today and now it won’t load, just a grey screen?

He has uninstalled reinstalled, tried running as admin

I’m lost as to what else it could be as it was working perfectly yesterday on the old 2gb card?

Any suggestions are welcome

Does it effect any other games at all or just Minecraft?

There is not much you can really do with regards to the game, Is it the W10 store version or the Java edition of the game?

Have you checked event viewer for any crashes?

Did you use DDU to remove the previous drivers or was it just an install over the top?

I would do the following

- DDU to uninstall the drivers and then re install
- Double check the GPU, power cables and seated in to PCI slot ok
- Test on other games (If possible, could be a faulty GPU).
- Re install the game, this time re name the following folder C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft, I say rename as this contains saved worlds and other info

Turns out he had to find and delete the launcher_msa_credentials(j.son) file

this has fixed the issue! Panic over and I can now stop being bugged by him
