Minecraft add ons maps and all.

Hi I like playing minecraft, but I am getting a little bored now, When I make an in game map I seem to take 10 steps then I disappear off the map which makes it a little restricting to my exploring.
I was wanting to try some premade maps people have done, can anyone suggest/help me improve gameplay? I did try to get a map from minecraftmaps but both my anti virus softwares spat it it out and said it was a severe threat. I hope this makes sense what I am after. thanks in advance, Hayley

Just make a compas. It will always point in the direction if the bed you last slept in . Then you can explore to your hearts content

Ok so you mean I dont need to make a full map just a compass? if that's the case ie I understand what ya mean then thanks kind sir!

I used this mini map mod http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/482147-151-mar21-reis-minimap-v33-04/ makes a big difference when exploring. I believe it was this mod that also came with a map mode as you get with mmo's which shows a larger area.

Also this is a good site to get legit mods/maps etc.
