Minecraft bds server pc

I would like to run bds minecraft server on something has to be cheap with not too much lag any suggestions

I don't mind building it

If I create a virtual machine in a pc and build a firewall will that protect the outer operating system

Minecraft is not very demanding, just get an old PC. I grabbed an old Quad Core Q6600 with 4GB Ram that was being thrown away which I run mine on.

If you have a NAS that supports the docker app you can simply install a minecraft server vm on that and it will run happily in the background 24/7.

It does depend how many players you intend to have and what settings/mods tho, as while minecraft is very basic the requirements scale up fast.

For an os for minecraft bds server do I get ubuntu, ubuntu server or raspbian and does minecraft bedrock use single core

Oh also I will be running on virtual machine should I use Microsoft azure or something else

Also can you give instructions on how to set up the virtual machine
