Minecraft Dungeons - can't get online on PS4?

My son wanted the new Minecraft Dungeons game released yesterday so he dug into his moneybox and I got it for him today.

I've got him and his brother their own Playstation ID's and they can play online with my Playstation Plus subscription - however, no matter what I try and change in terms of parental controls, even disabling them completely, when he tries to start an online game we get a message saying "Privilege Error - Cannot play due to age restrictions"

When I got the game for him it said it was a "PEGI 7" so I naturally assumed he would be fine to play with him being 9 but it seems like playing online is another matter!?!?

There isn't a specific option to allow/disable online play in the parental controls but even if I disable everything and allow him to play 18-rated games, it still doesn't work so I'm wondering if it is a restriction at the developers end?

Anyone had any similar issues or know how to get around them?

Hmm, son has been playing fine on his xbox. Not much help sadly.

Can I ask how old he is? I'm wondering if there is some sort of restriction for online play at the Mojang end?

He is 12.

This says logout and in again inside the game. (from inside settings)

I'll give it a go - although I don't remember seeing a logout option within the game - as far as I know you are either logged into your profile on the PS4 or you are not!?!?

As I suspected, there is no option to "sign out" from within the game like there is on the PC/Xbox! :confused:

Has anyone else been able to get online on the PS4 using a child's login?

I've been arguing with both Mojang and Playstation via e-mail over why we can't play online with my son's ID - both are claiming its the other's problem and that they can't help me any further.

Playstation are alleging that Mojang restrict online play to players under 13 but this is clearly not the case because we can play Minecraft online no problem! (added to which the tenuous link they gave me pointed towards this being specific to Mojang accounts and my son's Playstation ID is not connected to any Mojang account in the first place!)

Mojang are saying it's the parental controls on the Playstation that are the problem - but again this is not the case because I have even gone so far as to disable all parental controls for my sons account and it still wont work!

At this point its become more of a matter of principal rather than me actually wanting him to be able to play online - the fact that both are supposed to provide "support" is a joke!
