Hi All,

Whenever I use the launcher to try to launch Minecraft it asks me to log in, when I do I get the following error:-

Sorry, but we couldn't connect to our servers. Please make sure that you are online and Minecraft is not blocked. (certificateexception: no subject alternative dns name matching authserver.mojang)

It has been like this for over a week now and by reading all around the internet, uninstalling Minecraft and java, turning off firewalls, virus, filters blockers and tweaking things here and there I am still unable to proceed!

I am pretty sure that it is something to do with my launcher pointing to the wrong certificate or somehow that part being corrupt but I cannot figure out how.

For additional info I am using Windows 7, have latest Java, Minecraft etc (they should be I've reinstalled them a good few times this week!) Kaspersy Internet Security 2013 (up to date), oh and we are under the Virgin Media porn filter - I turned this off and tried but it still came with the same error.

If anyone could help in any way you would make me and (more importantly) my 9 year old son very happy!

Just realised this should probably be in the Minecraft thread, sorry.

Have you got the most up to date launcher, hasn't it moved to an install and not Java now?

I haven't played in months (inc when Microsoft took over).

I still use the java launcher, as I couldn't get liteloader to work how I wanted. Have you connected your minecraft account to mojang? And logging in with a email address and not a user name?

Using the latest installer but I tried using the .jar version and got the same error.

I have linked the accounts and do log in with email.

As said it has been working fine for months and then stopped. One night my son wanted to try a multiplayer server game, he tried to connect but it was greyed out and saying local only (or something similar - I was there but not looking at the screen). When it would let him go online I suggested (foolishly) that he log out. He did so and we have not been able to log back in since.

Delete everything from .Minecraft under %appdata% besides your saves, and redownload the files, certificate that comes with the install might be corrupt.

Just wiped the .Microsoft folder in users>myusername>Appdata>roaming.

There was nothing in there older than a few days and after wiping it I still get the same error.

I really appreciate any other ideas you have.

Hopefully you mean the .MINECRAFT folder and not MICROSOFT?

Might want to try resetting password/email as it sounds more like a authorisation problem?

Lol, yeah minecraft, both start and end the same way, just a bit different in the middle!

Anyway, took my PC to work today to test it on a different network and it works! Don't I look foolish?

So it is something on my network which is blocking it, I need to get into my routers and modem.
