Apparently so.

After a lovely session on Bioshock 2 running at max graphics with a solid 60 FPS I bought Minecraft and tried to give it a whirl. Lo and Behold I was lagged to hell! Not just as the world generated either.

My PC has a 6950 (stoclk) and an i5 760 processor with 4 gigs ram. Surely that should be enough to handle a stable minecraft

Minecraft is in Java and utilises just one core of the CPU.

It's still a work in progress and not the most optimised game on the planet. Deal with it, for now. :/

i believe it would actualy run smoother at a higher core speed, so say a core i3 at 4.4ghz would be better than an i5 / i7 for that paticular game.

but dont worry, in time im sure it will start to use more than one core
