Starmade Alpha is a creative sandbox shooter inspired by the Indie hit Minecraft that revolves around building amazing ships, stations and other structures, blowing them up and just straight up having fun with others in its likeminded community.

Ever dreamt of building the USS Enterprise and flying it around fighting AI-controlled enemies and other players? Ever wanted to fight in space battles and see your ship slowly taking damage block by block from incoming fire? Or are you the kind of person that likes to spend hours upon hours to get that reactor set up just right for maximum efficiency and output, ensuring your victory through technological supremacy and ingenuity of design?

You can do it all!

In Starmade you can build almost anything you can imagine, watch it get blown apart or watch it blow others apart, form alliances and fight over territory and faction homes, organize races and pretty much do anything you can think of. And if the game lacks certain things you would love to see, drop your suggestion on the forum and motivate it, Starmade gets updated on an extremely regular basis and everything in it is open to suggestion and critique.

Already the game is packed with features like salvaging, stealth modules, intricate power systems, fully simulated ship-physics and much more!

I've been messing around with this with a friend, its fairly good for a free alpha. Hes managed to create a huge sort of USS enterprise and I've cobbled together a huge ship with a few hangers, both are extremely formidable to fight against. Considering you can make it so the enemy use any ships you design is certainly interesting. Slowly starting to build a starbase large enough to harbor both of the ships currently.

Fights can be tense and you never know quite how much damage you have sustained finishing off a pirate only to see the whole back portion of your ship is missing can be interesting.

Its certainly a game to keep an eye on anyway. Its extremely fun seeing a ship come together and then fighting it against your own ships.

My ship resembled a giant green turd, but I got blown up by some pirates while stuck in planet mavity!

Was never interested in Minecraft (did give it a go, just wasn't my thing) but this seems really interesting. But I love spacey games and customising my ship (which is why I played SWG) so I'll definitely check it out

I like the idea of ships so huge that you can build living spaces on them and cargo holds.

I'd heard the game is continually generated (same as MC single player) although when I played I tried drifting off into space and would encounter planets I'd already mined. Maybe it's something to do with the free version?

Only just heard about this. Downloaded and gave it a try with a few friends last night! It really is very good and has lots of potential. Looking forward to see where they go with it but at the moment its a bit flat.

For the few hours I played it it was very fun and the shipbuilding works well once you get your head around the mechanics.
