Minecrafty type game recommendation please

Hi guys wanting to give the sandbox build etc genre of game a tryout out and want something better than minecraft if there is any . Anyone with recommendations from playing experiences seen a few floating around on steam atm and with sales on I might try 1
 
I enjoyed my time with minecraft but I loved playing terraria, theyre not exactly the same kind of game but I enjoyed having some structure to follow with gear progression and the bosses etc.

I cant recommend it enough! :)
 
In my opinion nothing will come close to Minecraft.

As mentioned above, if you haven't already, certainly look at trying different modpacks with it. FeedTheBeast modpacks are highly rated, and I can certainly vouch for them being good - they'll be packs comprising of multiple different mods to create one mega-version.

All the better if you get on a multiplayer server with them running!
 
I have completely missed the minecraft bandwagon. It seems to have been around for ages, thought I would buy two copies for myself and my daughter. I was surprised to find it at 20 pound, any chances of finding it somewhere cheap?

It's 20 dollars (although I guess that's not much difference really). The Pocket Edition for iPad and Android is only about £6 although has less features. I bought it for my son and daughter on their ipads and they have been utterly addicted to it for two months. I've not bought one copy for my machine and they share time on it. But admittedly it's far more fun on their ipads because ther can join the same world.
 
Minecraft + mods i havent seen anything better really. Server is free

Terraria is also another good offering

but honestly i spend most of my time in minecraft with a number of mods installed
 
thanks guys gonna try Terraria in steam sales if it ever works maybe look into getting minecraft at a later date is there anywhere else I can get it from besides the official website ?
 
Minecraft Feed The Beast - Unleashed or Direwolf versions. I play a private Unleashed server and it amazes me that I played MC for years and never delved into feed the beast. I blame Halfmad for not mentioning it sooner :p
 
My 8yr old is / was a Minecraft MASTER !!! As in he lived and breathed the damn stuff.

Anyway, he seems to play a lot of Robolox or is it Roboblox? these days? anyway it must be fairly good to have had the power to pull him away from Minecraft.
