Sorry, couldn't see a thread on this promising looking indie game, anyway it seems it is released tommorow on steam. From their blurb:

Miner Wars 2081 is a 6DOF action-survival space-shooter simulation-game set in the year 2081, 10 years after the destruction of all planetary objects in the Solar System. You operate an advanced mining ship in a fully destructible and open-world environment, which remains persistent as you complete missions or play online with others.

A couple of vids:

I haven't heard a thing about this until i saw it in the 'Comming Soon' section on steam, but it is giving me a 'Descent' vibe and I loved that game. I think I'm going to take the risk and pick this up tomorrow. Anyone else heard anything about this one ?

I bought the game ages ago when it was on greenmangaming, I forgot about this and I've just had a steam key and am downloading it now.

So I'll be able to tell you about it in a bit.

It's only been a couple of hours but so far I'm loving it. It is definitely in the mould of the Descent games, and for the most part it feels like an out and out shooter although I believe there is a whole side to the game I haven't experienced yet such as the actual mining and visiting random sectors in space plus crafting things. I've only seen the shooting side and I believe the devs have said it is going to be 80% shooting and 20% sandbox or something like that.

Anyway, the graphics are really nice and the ship controls are very responsive. The destructible environments are fantastic and you can blow up pretty much anything, I've seen me blast a hole through to the outside of the Asteroid, bypass a section and then blast my way back in. It does seem to be quite resource intensive at times, I'm running an I7 3770, GTX680 and 16gb and there is the odd occasion I'll drop to 30fps, but for the most part it runs at a nice smooth 60fps. It also seems quite difficult, for me at least as I'm currently stuck on the second mission, lol. I think I might be doing it wrong so gonna go back and play it from the beginning now and listen to what the voice in game is telling me to do this time. Also, your brother who is in the game with you in a second ship, has a bad habit of getting in your way.

Overall, based on a very initial impression and short time playing, I'm very happy with the game so far :) and I haven't even touched the Co-op or online side of it which I can see being quite fun.

Looks good and thanks for your first impressions, sounds like my thing. Looks very much like Descent.

This works out just on £12 if you buy direct from the website, any of you playing it think it's worth grabbing ?

cheers

Seems to be some fps issues and i cant seem to get the sensitivity right with the mouse for kb and mouse control. Also long load times which is a shame, they say cos its persistent and all that but i dont buy it.

Anyone know any way to get the stuttery fps fixed for this and whats the best mouse sen setting ingame do u reckon, i have it at half for now but still feels weird maybe cos of the fps issue. Vsync is off, using extreme gfx and 1080p.
