After a quick search through this forum, I found nothing on this. So here goes:

http://www.pugetsystems.com/submerged.php

Make sure to look at the youtube video too, looks very cool imo.

Also with the addition of a radiator, could be a practical, unique and stunning option.

I already have that mobo tray, maybe when I get my own place I'll try it in a year or two

Certainly another option next time you decide to get a new case :p

hehe, that does actually look quite nice :P Might buy a fish tank to use as a case on it's own :P Not brave enough to use oil as well

Do you have to refill it after every reboot?

Get some fish tank scenery in there, maybe an angel fish? :)

ah yea seen this already, surely the oil would heat up and cause increased temps

Yes but apparently it hadn't caused the system to become unstable.

But it could be fixed by using a radiator to pump cool oil in.

welshtom, ex member of this fine forum did a baby oil cooled pc but I can't link you to it because for some ungodly reason he's seen as a competitor.

google baby oil pc and its the top link.

Mineral oil is corrosive stuff btw, its also carcinogenic. Its an irritant and stinks. It really really stinks. I know it doesnt like skin very much, but seriously, the smell is horrible. Thats one good reason not to use it. You could cool the oil with water using submerged radiators as a heat exchanger, (it works, thats how we cool our bearings).

From looking at them all on youtube - most people seem to use mineral oil and nobody has reported smells or corrisiveness  Im thinking of doing it myself actually but I dont know what to use. Veg oil gets mouldy from what ive read and it goes brown.

ummm nice but there should be no need for fans thats silly as you are putting them under a lot of stress that will cause probs as said use a rad and pump to keep oil cool.

bay

bee

oil

doesn't go mouldy, doesn't smell bad, easy to get hold of.

I've seen the baby oil pc after it had been up for months and it was fine.

I have a shuttle chassis in the shed I'm planning to turn into a fishtank style pc with baby oil eventually.

Thanks - That would cost a fortune wouldnt it :( And we could only get hold of it in little bottles lol

'After an amazing 12 hours, the system topped out with a CPU temperature of 88C'

looks pretty but not to good for your temps by the sound of it
