Miners get PWND

I'm not one for taking joy at another's misfortune and its not as if crypto miners are deliberately going out of their way to drive up GPU prices.

Having said that i also have no sympathy for people who do stupid #### for greed, so yeah, #### these guys.....

Pretty sad that anybody would really take pleasure in another's misfortune even if you don't agree with mining. Mind you this is OCUK and the same old people over and over who believe that a GPU is some sort of god given right if you are a gamer over any other usage profile. As a gamer you deserve a GPU before anybody else right? Same old people same old rubbish.

I'm more concerned about the global warming implications that GPU mining brings. This is incredibly inefficient and something that everyone will have to pay for, if not in money then in blood.

+1
it’s a measure of the person that lols at someone getting scammed just because they don’t agree with that person's choices. I’m strongly against mining (even though I’ve been there and done that) but loling at some average joes getting badly burned trying to turn a few quid is pretty sad.

I don't doubt the implications of power/fuel usage but still it's a thing, just like petrol and diesel cars are a thing and air travel is a thing. We don't sit here feeling all high and mighty when somebody has a car that drinks excessive fuel or when somebody takes 4 or 5 holidays a year. Humans will always find a way to excessively use commodities, you can do your part by living a life where you use less but not everybody will do that, in the same way that not everybody is going out and buying electric cars.... It really is no different to the hundreds of other ways people waste energy.

To put it in perspective air travel alone generates approx. 1.04 billion tones of CO2 annually in comparison to approx. 57 million tones generated by GPU miners.... Better start hating on everybody that goes on holiday....

I remember discussing global warming and the threat of a pandemic 35 years ago. As such I work from home. I have no need of a car, and due to looking after my parents, have not flown for well over a decade. Living a more responsible life is not hard.

Miners are the modern day free loader in my opinion.

Pretty much the same for me, for the last 5 years, 90% of my life is played out in the same four walls, my home office... Doesn't mean I sit back and have any strong feelings towards people who live a different life... That's the beauty of it all, within reason you do what you want, you make your choices and you roll with it.

There seems to be this misconception that anyone that mines is a professional with hundreds of graphics cards working away.

Some people do genuinely predominantly game and just run nicehash when they’re not gaming.

Either way this sort of thing or bricking etc is why I tend to personally stay away from any of these things, it’s the same with people bricking their cards trying to flash 500w bios etc

I assume the people gloating and wishing death on these miners will be equally as happy when they get DDOSed or fall for a phishing scam originating from a botnet running on these compromised PCs?

I'd agree, within reason, as long as it has no negative impact on others, but that is not the case here.

Diddums? - The quality of this post matches what you put in your first post... Let me try and translate...

Diddums - used to express commiseration to a child or, ironically, to an adult

Commiseration - sympathy and sorrow for the misfortunes of others; compassion.

Yep just as I thought.... Another low quality ocuk post...

Problem is you can apply the same rationale to anything that uses energy. People in the GPU section just be angry that non gamers might be buying up their cards

Only other thing I’ll say is while many have strong feelings of anger towards miners. I dislike the scalpers even more.

Waiting for drops of founders edition cards and then trying to sell them for a grand more lol.

At least miners are buying the cards to actually use for themselves.

The people that buy purely to sell on for profit are more annoying for me personally.

No you can't. That's blatantly obvious. I've never had a problem geting a card either.

Mining is morally and ethically indefensible and you know it.

If miners said "Look I don't give a ****, I want the money" I'd have more respect for that than them pretending mining is fine. It's not. It is a disgustingly selfish and irresponsible practice.

;)
