Mini Amiga nostalgia

Finally got round to getting the loader working and have selected a few games, managed a few levels of Lemmings and Bubble Bobble and I am happy as Larry!

Every time someone mentions the Amiga I find myself browsing the ads....I want one so much lol. It has to be my favourite machine from my childhood.

But I suppose emulators will have to do... for now.
A500, 1200 or other?

A few times i've looked at A1200 listings and then thought to myself "wow, that's a lot of hardware and effort setting up for something emulation get now do very well"

I had an A500 back in the day.

And yeah I agree. The hassle and size of it always puts me off actually buying one.

Me too (A500 with 1MB upgrade) but second hand for my 7th birthday in 1991. Came with quite a few big boxed games and loose games in a small cabinet along with a trusty (copied) version of X-copy :D

That and a second hand Yamaha DT50 a few years later were my favourite childhood presents. BMX and a Sony 3-CD HiFi and first PC when I was 16. Damn, 90s and early 2000s were great! Amiga, motorbiking, BMX, music and early PC with Windows 95.

The games that I have downloaded either work or come up with an A500 loading screen and then eventually a software error.

Googling this comes up with quite a few people with the same problem (years ago on Reddit) but not many answers.

I have found a new source of lha files so will try some of those.

Desperately want to play Flashback and Megalomania!

Just like the 90s then with dodgy disks!

I remember even buying £30 games with birthday/xmas money or pocket money I had saved up, only for them to Guru Meditation after 5 minutes of loading. Body Blows Galactic was a good one of that!

Im not sure how the A500 mini runs lha/whdload packages but for what its worth they do work when properly installed on a Workbench setup on WinUAE A1200 config (but I had to manually configure and install all the components which took hours)

Great series, I followed about 1 - 15

Thanks @Guest2 that site I mentioned earlier had an “older” Flashback which works, need to explore it more.

I’ll give some of those videos watch too.

I just completed Bubble Bobble!

Very happy reliving some good times from way back when!

It is much easier with the ability to save but I did manage (eventually) to do each level without dying (except level 100).

Fantastic game. I had a bit of a play the other day and still remember most of the levels. It was the first and one of the very few if not only game I played with my mum.
Rainbow islands was also great and a but harder.
The music is stuck in my head 35 years later!! Short game melodies on repeat for hours :D

Ha...

I remember getting a Sanyo seperate system off the old man, thing was loud.

A week later him bursting into my room saying "turn that down I heard it walking up the other end of the street".

I was playing Bubble Bobble at the time :D

I also rigged up a separate sound system and it always freaked me out when a game had a bit of stereo, just wasn’t expecting it!

I’m working my way through Lemmings now, loving that, it’s amazing how much emotion they put into so few pixels!

Megalomania next when I find a working copy.

@nands is it the mini Amiga you're using or something else? I noticed playing Bubble bobble on an A1200 in WinUAE tends to corrupt the game as it runs too fast with glitches. Its probably due to me running RTG (ZorroIII) on one of my configs.
@Nate75 I used to love blasting out the Turrican, Turrican II and Shodow of the Beast series music on an old Sony TV we had.

I recently bought a second hand (from Vinted) iPad pro M2 and Korg iM1 to have a play around with. The original Shadow of the beast music was created using an M1 and it sounds very much like the Pan Flute M1 preset.

Similar to this is SOTB 2

and SOTB 1

I did think about (and look at) getting an original Korg M1, but that would have been daft (due to space and other equipment needed - not to mention I can't play piano :D )
