A500, 1200 or other?Every time someone mentions the Amiga I find myself browsing the ads....I want one so much lol. It has to be my favourite machine from my childhood.
But I suppose emulators will have to do... for now.
I had an A500 back in the day.A500, 1200 or other?
A few times i've looked at A1200 listings and then thought to myself "wow, that's a lot of hardware and effort setting up for something emulation get now do very well"
Me too (A500 with 1MB upgrade) but second hand for my 7th birthday in 1991. Came with quite a few big boxed games and loose games in a small cabinet along with a trusty (copied) version of X-copyI had an A500 back in the day.
And yeah I agree. The hassle and size of it always puts me off actually buying one.

Just like the 90s then with dodgy disks! The games that I have downloaded either work or come up with an A500 loading screen and then eventually a software error.
Fantastic game. I had a bit of a play the other day and still remember most of the levels. It was the first and one of the very few if not only game I played with my mum.I just completed Bubble Bobble!
Very happy reliving some good times from way back when!
It is much easier with the ability to save but I did manage (eventually) to do each level without dying (except level 100).

Ha...Fantastic game. I had a bit of a play the other day and still remember most of the levels. It was the first and one of the very few if not only game I played with my mum.
Rainbow islands was also great and a but harder.
The music is stuck in my head 35 years later!! Short game melodies on repeat for hours![]()

)I expect it will work (somehow) as the mini runs whd load which im sure runs preconfigured hdf files.@Guest2 im using a mini and Bubble Bobble which I got from Turran FTP works extremely well, the only slight issue is when a bomb goes off the screen corrupts slightly and I have no idea how to spend the eight credits you get, hence why I did it without dying until level 100.
I will check out the Amiga Vision link later, thanks.
It does not work straight off but reading about it led me to Amiga Game Selector which has a version specifically for the A500 mini, I now have access to many gigabytes worth of Amiga games and demos.I expect it will work (somehow) as the mini runs whd load which im sure runs preconfigured hdf files.
Running a hdf file directly though I doubt it will - or they’ll have made it more difficult.
Once working though, MegaAGS is your friend for endless Amiga gaming (and Workbench use)
You try connecting original bits of hardware like a Zipstick or Commadore tank mouse via adapters that are availableIt does not work straight off but reading about it led me to Amiga Game Selector which has a version specifically for the A500 mini, I now have access to many gigabytes worth of Amiga games and demos.
The few games that I tried out of the seemingly thousands available worked flawlessly so I am hugely impressed.
Now what do I try next?

I have a feeling you’re only at the tip of the iceberg with this stuff (as am i really)I think I might have gone far enough down this rabbit hole!
It is fun though!
That any I didnt know it at the time but most of the enjoyment was buying the game, reading the manual and looking at the (usually) fantastic artwork and game intos. 70% of the time, Amiga games were terrible. Music is baked into my head for lifetime though from many titles.
