Hi all. Currently using a silverstone TJ04 case, like a lot of cases at the moment there is a removable HD cage infront of the fan at the bottom right of the case when looking at it side on. At the moment my HD is in the bay for the optical drives (what is this actually called i forget the size ) using a Zalman ZM-2HC2 Silent Hard Disk Heatpipe Cooler. Had to remove the HD cage to allow my 8800GTX to fit. This leaves a very nice free area for air to be sucked in through my 120mm as can be seen in this pic:

But like Blackadder i have a cunning plan. As you can see in the picture the footer for the old drive cage is still there and sits just below the air current of the font intake fan. Its held in with 4 small riverts that i plan to carefully drill out allowing this to be removed, reattaching to the case will be done with small nut and bolts to allow easy removal.

When it is removed i plan to drill holes on either side of the meshed top allowing me to mount my HD on there using the screw holes on their undersides. Mounting an HD on there with the Zalman cooler catching the 40cfm from my front fan should keep the HD nice and cool! When it was there alone in the cage its temp was 27, but now its 35 underload when in the optical bays with an Akasa Hard Disk Cooler cooler under it. I know these temps are fine but want to move it there as currently its hogging up 2 drive bays!

Questions are:
1)Any tips on removing the riviets? Just drill through the head (blobby bit on the inside of the case? ) carefully and slowly with a 1/8 drill bit?
2)Any recommendations on strips of foam to use to put between HD/Cage foot and Cage Foot/Case to reduce vibration noise? Im thinking of possiblility of melting to circuitry underneath the HD. Would the Akasa soundproofing material do?
3)Any problems at all spotted with doing this?

Additionally
As can be seen in the pic the case fans front and back as with all cases have meshed steel in the way. I know cutting this off allowing a nice hole for air to flow through freely helps - but how much, a lot?

If i was to use a fan filter, Alpha cool Aluminium silver one, how much would this effect air flow (very little?) Also does it matter if it goes in between the case and fan or just behind the fan? Behind on its own would be great for easier maintenance.
