Mini Cooper S (2009) high rev issue?

Hi Folks,

My Mini Clubman Cooper S engine light keeps coming on at high revs if I give her a good thrashing.

She also stutters above 3,500rpms.

Any suggestions of cause or solutions would be appreciated.

Coil packs, spark plugs to start.

Step 1 would be to remove the spark plugs and visually inspect them, make sure they are gapped properly.

Yep, that's a good start. Plugs and coils are cheap enough to replace too.

Does it have timing chain rattle on startup?

If so worth also getting the timing checked out, as mine was similar when the timing had jumped/stretched due to the poor tensioner.

Not that I've really noticed but will pay attention when I'm out tomorrow.

Possibly the footwell module - have a google.

Could make numerous guesses, but would be much quicker and easier to have someone plug it in and diagnose it
