Mini Disc Player Recommendations

If im perfectly honest then id go MP3 player, they are simpler to transfer songs and considerably smaller and lighter.

Sony Minidiscs really are spot on, the sound quality is simply amazing, infact id be tempted to say its slightly better then my iriver H10, and the battery life is unbelievable, you really do get a good 65-70 hours out of 1 single AA battery, more off a Duracell. They hold about 70 tracks if you use low quality, but low quality is still amazing.

However, and its a big however. I cannot stand the stupid software you have to use to transfer music, its more interested in making songs copyrighted and keeping music secure from illegal copying etc so its an absolute sod to transfer music. Sony have made the software very un-user friendly last i used it, and its the sole reason i got rid of my MD.

I have an MZ-NH1, I paid £200 for it mind but it should have dropped in price by now I would think.

It has a full metal body so unlike other minidisc players the paint will not fade off because it is not painted, had this happen to my old minidisc player :(

Was thinking of selling it actually but not sure how much I would get for it you see. I highly recommend it, it comes with a great 3 line LCD remote aswell.

Oh and its one of the Hi-MD players as well so it takes the 1GB Hi-MD discs which are only £5 per disc which is not to bad at all I reckon :D

It also comes with its on charging cradle aswell which looks pretty swish aswell.

I also forgot that it does not take AA or AAA batteries, it comes with it's own gumstick battery which is why the player is only about 1cm thick, the battery lasts for 17 hours which is more than enough but the bulkier players (the ones that take AA's) have a battery life of 30-70 hours depending which model you get.
Heres a picture of it:

Im still using one of these to this day! Absolutly rock solid player. On long play you can fit over 300 songs on one disc with no noticeable loss in quality. Managed to get it for £150 brand new last year so balls to Argos wanting £300 for it!

Only annoying thing is that the cradle only charges it and you have to plug it in seperatly via usb to transfer songs, with the software that isnt really as bad as people say. You just need to have a little patience with it sometimes :p

Its also pretty thin, especially compared to other MD players and comes with its own nifty little pouch!

Me lovva da pouch

Yes, Loving the pouch it comes with :D

I did have an MZ - 510 (think its called that or something similar) and it came with a leather carry case but its crap really that was (case not the player) as it was just to bulky. The little pouch though I just use to protect my minidisc from scratching.

About SonicStage, I really do not think it is bad at all, never had a single problem with and found it easy to use. Just import the music you want to sonicstage and then go into transfer mode and wait till it has finished, job done.
