Mini display port to display port adapter

Bought a new GPU for Mac desktop.

The connectors on the gpu are Display port and dvi.

On the Mac monitor the cable coming off it is a mini display port.

I clearly need some sort of adapter. Do I need to be concerned about passive and active adapters or will any one do?

Have got a display to mini display port adapter to use my Apple Cinema Display with my PC. Just went for a cheap-ish one and it's been pretty reliable
