Hey all, getting paid on Tuesday and i'd like to get a Mini DV Camcorder. I've seen lots of models though I can't really make up my mind :(

I've found a JVC GR-D247 on offer for £170, though I can stretch to ~£300, I know it's not a lot but it's all I can afford. What i'm basically looking for is just something to start me off, have firewire capability, and a mic input, though f possible one which can shoot in low light (though I realise that would be hard to find)

Help is greatly appreciated :)

i've just bought a SONY DCR HC35, list price is £300 and is that price in some electrical retailers, though their equivelent website has the camera as a web exclusive for £226, print that ad off, take it into their store and they will price match, as for the camera itself, you can't expect any more for the money, you get a docking station, firewire connection, remote control, 20x optical zoom, Zeiss lens, touch screen controls, well worth the money :)

I've seen the panasonic NV-GS75EB for £330, anyone used it, I've been reccomended it on another forum as it's got 3ccd, which is quite good considering the price!

I'm not 100% sure of what a single ccd is, but 3ccd means that the 3 primary components of light (or something like that) are broken up so that they are recorded clearer.

[edit]These use a prism to split light into it's three component colors and use a separate CCD for each color. You appear to get more detail and less weird effects on bright edges.

The lenses on these cameras are also better, especially when zoomed right in or out. Expect all manner of extra gizmos too, although most of them add little to the utility of the camera.
