Kinda need one of these asap..

I'm aware of the rules but without naming any retailers, is it only Apple and online stores which stock these mini DVI cables? None of the bigger retailers?

Haven't got time for the 40 mile round trip just to buy one today nor can I wait until mid next week.

Thanks guys - if a major breach of rules, please delete.

You'd be lucky to get it from the purple shirt place or their companies. I needed one desperately once and we searched all over town.

I think apple is the only place you're gonna be able to get it. :(

Other online etailers also sell them.

Beware the dual link DVI version if using non-Appkle screens though (it's a bit iffy). The normal single link DVI is fine though.

I've got one :) Mail me your address in trust and i'l get it sent out asap.

Edit: Wait, it's a saturday.. Sorry man! Well if you're near Bournemouth you can always come collect it!
Edit2: Ah, you're in Glasgow.. Nips.

That would've been ideal Adrian, if only I was in Bournemouth :D

Not to worry, I'll get one during the week at some point. Bloody Apple stuff, can't find it anywhere.

A company called Neet Cables could be right up your street. I ordered a Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter manufactured by them and received it under 24 hours from ordering (free delivery as well). Ordered in the afternoon, was in my hands first thing the next morning. Very, very pleased. Does what it says on the tin, is cheaper than the Apple manufactured equivalent and can be used with DVI->VGA adapters which the Apple unit can't.

The same company offer a Mini DVI to DVI adapter for almost half the price of the Apple unit that would suit your needs.

Can only really speak for my own experience (and from the countless reviews I read from people who had similar experiences to me which persuaded me to make the purchase in the first place), but good luck!

Company website is down Vallario. :(

I'm just wondering, my monitor has both a DVI and VGA port - I generally run a PC through the VGA. Would I still require a DVI for macbook use?

edit; the monitor is DVI-D, if that helps.

Can't mention exactly where their adapters are sold for obvious reasons but they sell them through a couple of very, very well known online retailers. No wild guessing required.

My understanding is that unless the monitor requires Dual-link DVI (i.e. a 30" Apple LCD, or something of that nature), either DVI or VGA can be used from the MacBook with no problem. I can't think of any other reason you'd need to use DVI over VGA...
