Hi There,

Having a few issues when gaming using my machine (Laptop). During every game I play I seem to be getting slight mini stutters/freezing. Doesn't seem to happen at any specific points in game either, just randomly.

Spec: MSI GS702OD-409UK Stealth
i7-4700HQ @ 2.4GHz
8GB RAM
NVIDIA GeFroce GTX 765M 2GB

Games that I've played recently in which seem to stutter:
DOTA 2
WoW
Bioshock (all of them!)
Killing Floor 1 + 2

Graphics drivers are all up to date, AV was un-installed but to no avail. Anybody have any ideas on what I could do to stop this from happening?

Could be temperature related. CPU or GPU throttling under load due to heat. I assume you have power set to maximum performance. Might need a dust out or repaste at a guess.

thanks for that, for some reason that never crossed my mind.

any recommendations for software to monitor temps?

will give this a look at tonight...

Was like that all night, not sure if thats good or bad as, If I'm honest, I rarely look at temps.

Saying that last night wasn't too bad in general, I had 3-4 mini-freezes whilst playing dota 2 for around 2-3 hours.

Yeah its 7200.

I've had a look at the power settings and it was set to power save.. oddly enough. I've switched it to a performance/gaming setting now so i'll see if that makes any difference at lunch time :)

Here's hoping :-)

its certainly possible, my old old laptop on battery would struggle on many things when set to power save, and be totally fine on other modes.

Last night I was playing Borderlands 2 with a friend for the first time ages. Using in game voice, whenever I pressed the push to talk key, it would lag the game for a couple of seconds. from solid 60fps to 0, then straight back to 60. Using steam voice was fine. It never used to do it, and after a few hours of play, it stopped doing it.
No idea why it happened, but is there anything that you are doing that coincides with the games lagging?

I have to say it really cut them down.. played DOTA over lunch, managed to get two games in. First was mostly fine, had one freeze of around 1-2 seconds. 2nd game i had two freezes of about the same.

I cant find anything that would suggest its any specific action in game that sets it off, sometime sit does it in larger battles, other times it does it just walking from base - towers. Really odd!
