Mini Fridge

That is awesome, not at all what I would call a mini fridge though. £340 to!
I have a mini fridge, it fits 6x330ml cans in.

*edit* You will find that most mini fridges have quit noise fans which is not great to have in your room.

Are you staying in halls? I had a fridge in my halls room, despite not supposed to be having one. Never had my room checked, and I had an obvious white one from a well known high street competitor! Just put a sheet over it and say it's a table?

I had one of these when I was at Uni:

Despite its small size it could hold milk and a good number of cans of beer, it chilled them really well.

As it wasn't a traditional fridge it gets round that rule. Like most of these fridges it has a fan, but its about as loud as a computer, its still much quieter than the compressor in a traditional fridge when you are sleeping right next to it.

I actually remember the fan went on it a few years later and I replaced it with a bigger, quieter one from OCUK! Fridge modding!

Husky fridge. Quite big, very cold (can freeze if there's a bottle with tiny bit of water). A little noisy, I can sleep no problem though.

£100-ish, take your pick from designs.

Husky fridge.

*edit* I beg your pardon, somehow I didn't read the OP properly. Bad choice of fridge then, sorry.

Why would they stop you having a fridge? Is it a H&S issue?

Likely for two reasons:

- It is an item that uses a lot of power and all equivalent items provided to students in Halls would require regular health and safety electrical testing.

- Compressors can die and fridges can leak fluid everywhere.

From personal experience, in my final year at Uni when I went back to living in Halls, I boiled a quick boil kettle in my room on a Sunday night when everybody was in. This obviously exceeded the load for the ring and cut out all the power.

My parents also used to keep a small fridge in a top floor room, it died and then leaked fluid into the carpet and floorboards... not good.

Yeah, someone in my halls had a fridge in their bedroom. Something was up with it and we all had to evacuate the building at 6AM on a Sunday. We were kept outside for a good hour. Wasn't much fun since we've just got back in from clubbing and was about to hit the hay.

I bought one a few a weeks ago, and would definitely recommend this one, it seems to fit everything I need in it!

Zanussi ZRX407W.

Can be had for around £140 delivered if you look ;).

Makes sense I guess.

I'd never pay so much for something I'm not going to keep very long! I bought a mini fridge and a seperate mini freezer both 2nd hand off facebook for £20 each, they're both the same size as your Zanussi. Bargain

You dont have a shared fridge?

We were not allowed mini fridges in halls but everyone had them (along with electric heaters and air con units)

I had a Husky fridge at Uni (the Budweiser variant), again not supposed to have one, but it sat happily under my desk with a sheet over it covering the front. It didn't seem particularly loud either.

Was definitely needed as the amount of cheese I got through because of the 3-4 guys living on my corridor eating was ridiculous

That's the thing, although its a great little gadget, I've never found a use for it post-student days.

You dont have a shared fridge?

I'm sure he probably does.

In my own experience, the reason I got a mini-fridge was because I did a four year degree and in my final year, I moved back into Halls as most of my friends did three years and had left.

Due to everybody also being in their final year, everybody in my block had their own friends and were also incredibly busy with final year work. As such, I never really got to know the people I lived with very well, which was a complete contrast to my first year where the people I lived in Halls with were pretty much friends for the whole way through Uni.

To cut to the point though, putting stuff in the communal fridge was an issue because there were one or two people who lived in the block who just took whatever they wanted. You couldn't put anything desirable in it because it would be gone. Due to not even really knowing the people I shared with, it was difficult to even confront, or know who to confront about it.

So a mini-fridge was ideal for keeping beer. Milk was also good as well because doing lots of late nights in my final year, it was nice to be able to make a coffee in my room, without having to go downstairs, which would make a fair bit of noise to my blockmates with all the doors.

I'm sure the OP has something similar to this.

Just because you not allowed one doesn't mean you cant have one.

Just get it and put clothes on it when you have inspection, worked for us.
