Apologies if this was already asked.

I am after a mobo (mini ITX) ready for Zen 3 (AMD 5000 series). I am not sure whether to hold out for the X600 series. My plan is to do a build in December.

I currently have the case (NZXT H1 bought from OCUK), RAM, PCI 4 Riser Cable, SSD etc.

Just need Mobo, CPU and GFX. I think the Mobo is the next piece in the puzzle.

Has anybody heard any rumours on X600 or shall I pull the trigger on a X570 (Something like a ROG Mobo).

I think AMD do a scheme where they send you a CPU to do a BIOS flash you can send back? Even better would be a Mobo I can flash without a CPU.

Any recommendations are really welcome!

Thanks

Most motherboards have q flash which you can update the bios using a usb drive. They have a dedicate flash port and no cpu needed.

Which board are you looking at ?

X600 is no definitive date yet .

definitely wouldnt hold out on X600 series for ITX as it will be hell expensive if one ever exist. for 2 M.2 you will be looking at B550

you dont have much to choose from in terms ITX boards. each brand will have 1 boards in B550 format. if you want premium and looks go with Asus or Gigabyte for those fancy lighting. if you want middle of the road - MSI, Asrock got a budget friendly one.

those are your choices. total 4 boards to choose from, so not really that hard to choose nor a difficult one. so what you not sure about???

its not like you need to filter through 50 different boards to derive at a decision. honestly man, just do a bit of research

In a similar situation. Was hoping some news on X670 would drop in the Zen 3 announcement yesterday, so far not. Asus ROG Strix X570-I my current first choice if I run out of patience.

The only one I’ve seen so far is the standard ATX dark hero versions which are zen 3 ready but nothing for mini ITX yet.

as I’m building from scratch I’ll either have to wait until you can buy a mobo with an up to date flashed bios or buy a cheap AM4 CPU or borrow one before I slot a 5000 series in.

this is my dilemma, it’s not as easy as it first seems currently, especially if you are coming from an intel build.

the ROG STRIX is the one I’ve been looking at as well at the moment

The AGESA which supports these new CPUs have been around since August of this year. So hopefully boards shipped since then will be up to date, though pot luck in getting one I imagine until older inventory clears out.

The ROG Strix x570i board BIOS released in mid Aug supports the new CPUs. Or could get a board which has a flashback feature built in. on Mini ITX side, the Aorus X570i has the flashback feature and its very well featured also.

Really useful post thank you. Looks like a contender definitely. Only thing that seems like a failure point is the onboard fan. I’ll have a look at some reviews thanks.

sitting on the fence whether to go 3700X with the ASUS board and upgrade to a 5700X later down the line (if they release)

Indeed seems like no X670 with the Zen3 release, possibly with a Zen 3+ mid of next year; either way I've waited long enough! Went with the Strix B550-I in the end. 30% cheaper where I live and ticks all the boxes really. Currently running a 3600 but in an ATX form factor, looking to move to the 5800X if there's a decent bump in gaming performance.

B550 vs X570 it was the optimum tech review that really sealed the deal for me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yGTvNyfGXY0
