Picked up a 5950x to replace my 9700k and wondering which board to go for. Everywhere I look pretty much says go for x570i strix, but are there any comparable and cheaper options out there?

For what I need it, will make use of all cores under heavy load and also needs to support 64GB RAM. The system will be watercooled by 1x240mm GT and 1x120mm GT rads. I won't need extreme overclocking but If I can overclock mildly it will be great. The RAM I have got now is 2x32GB Corsair RGB pro @3200.

I'd appreciate any alternatives on the Strix.

Thanks

Gigabyte itx board. overclocking in an itx form factor with a 5950x, not exactly impossible but it makes more sense to underclock it and it will boost itself.

Most decent B450/B550 ITX boards should be able handle it, my Gigabyte B450 ITX Aorus Pro WiFi does a decent job handling my 5800X with PBO settings tweaked, it runs at up to 4.8 GHz single core and 4.4-4.6 GHz all cores (depending on temp), since 5950X has twice the cores/threads, so expect to get similar single core boost but lower all cores boost compared to my 5800X, but don't expect to be able to push it too far, if I had a 5950X, I'd go for X570 board instead.

Yes it seems itx options are quite limited when it comes to amd. It think i'll do a little more research but it looks like the x570i strix is going to have to be the top pick.

X570 on ITX is just not worth the premium, you literally cannot make use of the chipset's features in that form factor. Decent B550 board will be more than sufficient.

Gigabyte B550I Pro Ax should be a perfect option, very good VRM, it had some problems with bluetooth at launch but it seems all solved on the latest BIOS updates.
