Hello,

I'm building a Mini ITX media center using a MSI H61I-E35 Motherboard.
It has:

4GB Kingston HyperX DDR3 RAM
Intel G530 Dual Core (2.4Ghz)
Lite-on iHas DVD burner
No hard drive but looking for a 1TB HDD (full size, cheaper)

I have a few questions:
1. Will a 300W PSU, Mini ATX, Unbranded be OK ?
2. Can I add a PCI-E LAPTOP wifi card or does it need to be compatible with the board ?
3. Can I add USB 3.0 via pinouts on the board, I want to replace the standard USB's on the front.

Motherboard image & details here:

Cheers !

After having the worst luck in the world with some known branded PSU's i wouldn't trust ANY unbranded PSU's with ANY set up to be perfectly honest.

Also, not sure though, i don't think mods will like that amazon link.

You cant add a Pcie laptop card as far as i know because they use Mini PCIe, which is different, since you have just one precious pci slot, i would use a usb wireless adapter.

If you want to replace the front usb 2.0''s with USB 3.0, i think this is for you:

Changed link.
I was thinking temporary. All the parts have killed my funds & the chassis comes with the 300W unbranded PSU. Will it work ?

I still wouldn't recommend the unbranded PSU but i'm sure it will work somewhat for now considering you have no power munchers in your set up. I forgot to mention that if you use the USB 3.0 PCIe adapter, you probably will have to change your USB2.0 case plugs to 3.0 ones, or you will just get 2.0 speeds, though it still will work.

I looked a few seconds longer and found this, same thing except less plug replacing and more plugs!

Your motherboard only supports up to usb 2.0, so this adapter is your best bet

Only problem, i'm going to be using the PCIe for wifi.
It doesn't matter I guess it was just a luxury lol.

Do you know if I can use a PCIe Laptop wifi card on the board ? then I could just drill a hole and put the antenna pigtail out the back of the case.

As far as i know, you cant.

That is why i would suggest a usb wireless adapter and using the usb 3.0 PCIe adapter. That way you can sort out your wireless problem, usb 3.0 fancy AND have even more usb plugs than you initially expected to.

People are put off by the idea of USB wireless adapters and think that because they are USB 2.0, they are capped. I would be fairly impressed by your internet if this is the case. Now i'm sure in some country's you could achieve hitting the cap but in the UK, i would be most surprised.
