Hi, i'm looking at possibly building a mini system, that would be used for downstairs media, and play games not necessarily at Ultra, but towards high/ultra, as i'd like the option of taking it with me if i'm off to a friends house.

Really, i'm looking at an i5 minimum and the idea of a 7950.

Budget-wise..i'm not looking at silly expensive, try to keep it cheap as possible with a i5 K cpu and 7950/alternatives.

Don't need a keyboard, mouse or monitor (Steal one of my 3 from my surround set up :D )

Cheers.

This is your basic ITX rig, for maximum portability, with processor and graphics card requested
You will need to check the length of whichever card you choose and the clearance in whichever case you go for.
The Lian Li will just fit the card I spec'd and the CM Elite 120 will easily. It wont fit in the FT03-Mini or the SG05, the limit on those is 10".

Do you need a storage drive for the games?
Do you need a DVD drive?

1 x Intel Core i5-4670K 3.40GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail £179.99
1 x MSI Z87I Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ITX Motherboard £113.99
1 x Corsair Hydro H80i High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler £78.95

Case wise here are some options:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Lian Li PC-TU200B Mini-ITX Cube - Black £149.99

1 x Silverstone Fortress FT03 Mini Case - Black (SST-FT03B-Mini USB 3.0) £116.99
(Requires SFX PSU - Remove Seasonic in build)
1 x Silverstone Strider SST-ST45SF SFX Series - 450 Watt £66.95

1 x Silverstone Sugo SG05 HTPC Case with 450W Power Supply - All Black ( SST-SG05BB USB 3.0) £114.95
(Includes Silverstone ST45SF SFX PSU - remove Seasonic in build)

1 x Cooler Master Elite 120 Advanced Mini-ITX Case - Black £39.95

The CM Elite 120, SG05 and the PC-TU200B will require minor modification in order to fit the H80i cooler, I believe they require removal of hard drive cage. Whilst you could fit a lower profile cooler it would limit overclocking capability.

The FT03-Mini should just be capable of squeezing an H80 in the bottom providing you rotate it the right way.

I'm in the process of building a similar rig to you. Like you I want to be able to pack it up in a bag easily.

I have the following running in a temporary case at the moment. I'm thinking about getting an FT03-Mini and ST45SF-G PSU.

Gigabyte Z77N-WIFI
3770K
H80
16gb memory
128gb SSD
GTX 670

Nice little build that, probably would go cheaper with the RAM, a 1600mhz set would be plenty.

Forgot about storage, a small SSD for windows and apps, and a 1-2tb HDD for games and media storage.

No DVD drive required.

I do like the Idea of a Prodigy M/Non M build.

Yep, 1600 MHz would save you £22.

If going Prodigy or Phenom you might as well go mATX as the ITX version aren't any smaller.

They obviously wont be as portable as an ITX build but an mATX would be slightly cheaper.
