Lo guys , help spec me a build for the other half , ideally wants to be either of the two form factors , will settle for micro ATX tho . Needs to be a good price , not nessarly balls out cheap but budget is very flexible around 400-500 quid mark.

Better suited for **** ton of multitasking over single core performance , I've never seen so many progs open on a desktop other than development environments lol .

SSD is requirment for o/s however I have a mechanical here for storage so 60GB should be ample.

She needs some GPU horsepower , basic 1080p gaming needs , thinking an APU still hasn't the oomph I'd like tho. However I'd like to be proved wrong .

Also has to Be able to handle a fair bit of editing , nothing uber fast but something that isn't gonna hang every 2 minuits and will let her do stuff as its rendering / converting etc

Spec tower only no o/s or other stuff thankyou , appreciated

I have a 120GB SSD together with a 1TB mech drive. Only Windows and programs (and not a ton of them either) are on the SSD, and it's half-full after 6 months. So I wouldn't recommend a 60GB these days. The page file alone will take up 8GB, and make sure you disable Hibernation which also takes up 8GB. Some rigs fare okay with page file de-activated too but it can cause instability in others. So if you find yours needs it on, and then you double the amount of RAM in future, the page file would then be 16GB (unless you tinker with its size).

B85 mobo with four memory slots will allow for adding more RAM if she needs it.

750Ti for her basic 1080p gaming needs, and a cheap but solid Antec PSU that will power the rig no problem. Obviously stretch a bit for a more powerful one if you want to account for GPU upgrades.

And then the best processor that will fit in the budget, basically.

An AMD (non-APU) build isn't really an option due to lack of decent mini-ITX and micro-ATX motherboards.
