Hello.
im looking to buy a pc after my laptop died. now i want a pc with the same size as a laptop to fit my laptop table.
so i found that there is a thin pc cases that is almost as thick as a laptop but my issue here is this:
i want only one single power cable from the pc to the power outlet. just like a laptop.

is there any monitor that will work from single cable to the pc? (usb-c maybe?)

my idea is to position the pc horizontally and put the keyboard above it. and have one cable to the monitor that will also be the power for the monitor.

Thank you all!

Are you not ultimately just describing an ‘all in one’ PC where the display and PC are in the same chassis?

I presume this isn’t for gaming and just for general home/office usage?

Oh i didn't express that sorry
my laptop was a gaming laptop with 980 GTX. and im looking at getting a pc with at least 2070 RTX
so its for gaming and money is not an issue.

Don’t these monitors still need a power cable? As the USB C cable goes into the GPU output, which can’t also draw additional power and send it back to the monitor? If such a product exists, I’m genuinely intrigued :p

So you’re after a brilliant ITX gaming rig with no limit? Is it that important you only have one power cable?

Two things to bare in mind here

1 - Even the thinnest ITX cases that can take a proper size GPU are still fairly chunky, I'd certainly not want to put a keyboard on top and use that, unless the desk / tray is fairly low

2 - From what I gather, the GPU can only power a low powered monitor, which limits you to the small, portable monitors. If you want a proper size monitor (as listed above) you'd need to plug it in to the motherboard and then I'm not sure if they use the power of the GPU.

Personally, I'd just get another gaming laptop, I wouldn't say you're gaining a massive amount doing it this way. Although just my opinion really

Thank you guys for the inputs!
i'm running away from laptops because if anything fail you are stuck for weeks to get a replacement if possible even.

yes. i want one cable since my disk is not facing a wall and the cable will be in the way. so having two will be even worse. one is too much :)

so i can only get a small monitor if i want to use usb-c? ive seen a youtube for a large LG 27 monitor that was only using usb-c. here is the link

What about one of those daisy chain power leads that plugs into the PSU and also powers the monitor, is that no good?
i think this is the last option i have. but even so. is there a PSU that have this and fit mini ITX?

There are quite a number of monitors that are powered via USB-C and it also carries the data via the DP protocol, assuming you have a device that will output both from the same USB ports most are targeted at the portability market presently however.

One of the big benefits of USB-C was the ability to carry/deliver up to 100w of power (up to 20v /5A), alongside the data portion. For some reason single cable solutions haven't been as forth coming as you'd expect for such a big shift with all the possibilities of reducing the cable clutter, and other benefits like having a USB hub that can then provide power to devices connected to the monitor. We have a solution that was designed in-house for a project, specifically to minimise components in the build.

@Journey interesting, seems odd to come up with a great solution - and no one seems bothered to adopt and build for it!

@mrbdrm I think not only is the single power cable a struggle, asking for an ITX build that's as thin as a laptop, with a dedicated high performance GPU, is a big ask and nigh on impossible... How small/thin are you expecting an ITX computer to be?

I mean there are some great ITX cases out there, which are very compact and small. But never going to be as literally thin as a laptop... One that springs to mind atm is the NZXT H1, would this size suffice? Although OcUK has a notice that they can't get stock until end of August due to COVID...

That case can be a GPU oven, I remember a while ago most recommended you get a blower GPU (so it exhausts the heat straight out the case) and a decent low profile CPU cooler.

Still no idea about your single power cable requirement... But PC wise if you want to use the Node 202, with the above in mind, I'd go for something like this.

As you said money wasn't a problem, the only things you may want to change is the NVMe if you want a larger 2TB which would add approx £160. Or if you wanted 32GB RAM would add £100 for the 2x 16GB kit.
