Hi - been a while since I've built a PC (been using a laptop for the past few years) but now I have an office space looking to tidy things up a bit. Any ideas on if the below would work and if there is anywhere to save money?

Still debating ITX vs M-ATX but want it to look clean and not take up too much space (although know this comes at a price as the MB/PSU/Case combo is over £500). What's the smallest M-ATX these days as that would bring the cost down.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £1,187.93 (includes delivery: £0.00)

does that CPU come with an OEM cooler?

MATX or ITX? Depends on your needs.

I like ITX and it’s great and small but it’s a pain to maintain and MATX is often better.

Are you looking for a gaming PC here? If you're not aware, all Ryzen CPUs except F now have integrated graphics and you can buy a G CPU with better graphics for cheaper than the 7600.

Does the case need to be small in height, or length?

Lian Li's A3 is pretty popular for MATX builds, takes a standard PSU too:

The 7600 does, the 7600X does not, I think they're a bit taller than the ones Intel include.

This motherboard is cheaper by £50,

Though not in stock sure it can be found elsewhere, there is much itx boards to choose from, you probably could get your setup much cheaper by going m-atx which is similar in size and provides many more options

Don’t know if it means anything but that motherboard supports 6600 MT/s RAM.

No idea if you’ll actually be able to use that as running 6400 MT/s RAM is not common on AMD.

I believe that's up to, not that you have to use that speed.
lol well yes, obviously, I know how specs work for motherboards.

My point is that if it can support 6600 MT/s, you might be able to play around with that speed but AMD systems don’t tend to love very fast speeds.

It might also mean better overclocking at regular speeds, ie, you can run tighter timings at 6000 or 6400 MT/s.

Lol, DOH!! Sorry misunderstood your post.

Recent batches of 7000 series along with 9000 series (same IO die) should be good for 6400 1:1, or 6200 at worst.

OCUK don't have it, but I would pick the Asrock B650M-HDV for just over £100 along with an MATX case (like the Lian Li A3)

I’ve just found it for £85. That’s so stupidly cheap that you’re starting get into an argument against AM4/B550 in that situation (maybe, maybe not, depends)

Yeah it's a great buy and makes a value AM5 build doable.
It’s a pity that the AMD 7600 CPU isn’t exactly budget friendly tho.

For a modern workstation where you just want a chipset that will be supported for the next few years and that you can upgrade, 100% go for that Asrock B650 motherboard and 7600 or 7700X combo with some cheap DDR5 RAM.

You’d get more performance out of a 5800X3D in a budget gaming build though.

7500F from China would be a nice starter CPU on the platform for those that can't stretch to the 7600.

Here's a useful resource:

caseend.com

You have plenty of options, many of which sit between the A3 and the A4 on size & on price.

You don't necessarily need an SFX PSU when building a small PC. Many cases support SFX-L, and some ATX (often with some caveats).

Asrock do an A620 ITX board which has quite decent specs. It costs £130-£140.

There are some cases in the ~15L range that have Micro ATX board support (and some which will fit a Micro ATX board & ATX PSU with your GPU).

You could knock about £250 off that build easily and still wind up with a small PC around half the size of an A3 build (Meshlicious + Asrock A620I + Corsair RM650).

You will have probably sorted a case out by now and while this particular case wont be from a brand that this site sells and the motherboard does fit directly to the side panel meaning only the front and main side comes off, but the IONZ KZ-X1 is a really nice case with a budget price. it has a glass window and a handle as its a portable one. i use a full modular psu in mine and you can do a decent job with the cable management .
