I've just realised my current build is 7 Years old and so far I haven't needed an upgrade for what I use it for, that was until today when I went to play some 4k video from my new GoPro 11  I think it's time for an upgrade, every fan came on with jittery video, out of sync sound which left me frustrated.
I'm not after a high end build, something that could hold its own for a few years and handle a small bit of video editing, this was the last PC I built and looking around a lot has changed so I'm open to suggestions for a spec list?

Currently housed in a Silverstone Sugo SG13B-Q Mini-ITX which I hope to keep
Silverstone Strider SST-ST30SF SFX Series - 300 Watt Power Supply may possibly be able to reuse this but everything else I think has seen its day.
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4690K CPU @ 3.50GHz
8GB RAM
AMD Radeon 6670
MSI Z87I motherboard

Something like a 5600G or i3-12100? Not the ideal time, because the 12100 has gone up £40, Raptor Lake is due soon and we're waiting for more affordable AM5 boards.

You might be better off shopping around for a compact pre-build with a 4600G/5600G or something similar.

Did you try playing the video on both the i5-4690K and the 6670?

Great thanks for the direction I'll take a look...

I didn't try on both, took me ages to get any video at all once I'd found the HVEC Codec.

Honestly depending on the codec used for the 4K footage you might be able to watch it with just a change to the gpu.

Quick google seems to imply that the go pro 11 uses hevc aka h.265 for 4k video so a newer gpu with a built in decoder should help (with the right codecs installed on windows)

However before that might be worth grabbing shark codecs (alternatively just grab mpc-be or vlc) and then playing around with h265 settings to see if that helps.
