Hi all, I've been out of the game for a while and I need to upgrade my trusty ol' x2 6000+ CPU and M2N-SLI deluxe mobo and was hoping that someone who knows what they are talking about could cast their eyes over my plans and pick up on any dumb decisions before I hand over the cash.
I am looking to upgrade my system with the following kit (I will be keeping my MSI Twin Frozr HD5850, Samsung 840 SSD & 3.5" HDD, full size PSU).
YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-4670K 3.40GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - OEM £191.99
1 x MSI Z87I Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ITX Motherboard £113.99
1 x Kingston HyperX Genesis Blue 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (KHX16C9K2/16X) £99.95
1 x Corsair Hydro H55 Quiet Liquid CPU Cooler £52.99
Total : £469.72 (includes shipping : £9.00).
If I can get more for my money with a different configuration I have no issues switching things around.
Also, having never gone down the mini ITX route before, I want to make sure I get a case that accommodate all of this. Preferably one that is not shaped like a steam train. Maybe this:
Cooler Master Elite 120 Advanced Mini-ITX Case - White £44.99
It supports a full size PSU and has a 120mm fan at the front, but I think I would have to remove the drive cage to fit the radiator, or hack a vent in the top above the unused optical bay.
Another option is this:
BitFenix Prodigy Mini-ITX Cube Case - Midnight Black £69.95
It looks like it would do the job but costs more than I was hoping to spend on a case that will be hidden away.
Are there any low cost options that would work with this setup?
