This one is supposed to be a #3, someone recieved a #3 from that seller recently but previously someone had recieved a #5 so cheaper but more risky! - I also bought one of these

did you see the battery pack i linked to in my previous post? three 1.2v NiMH rechargeables in a little holder wired up directly to the Vin and Vout on the PCB, should increase the battery life by about eleven times :D

Yep, the AA holder is a nice solution, I'm hoping to use the internal battery also, so I'm looking to see if I can squeeze in a small switch somewhere.

Instead of the AA holder, I'm planning to use a 18650 cell which are only a little bigger than an AA cell but they 3.7v meaning I only need to use 1 instead of 3, and I can also charge it from the USB port if I need to. :)

From what i can see that would be about £10 for 2 batteries(1350mah) and a charger, could be interesting!

If you get around to doing that will you post explaining exactly what and how you did it and how well it works (:?

I cant see myself buying bigger cards than 4gb to keep the cost down so the battery should last till maximum capacity anyway. But would be interested all the same! Especially if i have problems with battery life (:

No problem. I only ordered it last night, so it will be a while before it's at the mercy of my soldering iron... ;)

I'll be sure to update if I have any success with 18650 cells, I can't see why they wouldn't work, but theory often turns out to be different from reality... :)

EDIT: Decent 18650 cells offer 2600mAh, I've used them in the past to power torches and amplifiers with no problem, they are overkill for this camera with 0.2A of current, but size is not an issue then it's a good option. I prefer them to AA's personally...

I've had a thought, I wonder if the fake buttons could be used as a battery switch...
