Now that my exams are over and I have some free time on my hands I decided to mod my thermaltake lanbox.

I was trying to stick with my red and black theme to go with the case and fatality mobo so I bought a few new fatality cpu cooler (fanboy I know!), some new fans and a circular red cold cathode for the front.

As you can see from the picture above the air intake at the front is via a single 92mm fan. I wasn't overly convinced at the ammount of air this was pushing to the back so I decided to remove it, drill some more vent holes, and fit 2x80mm fans (7volted) at the front.

The new fatality cooler was a seriously tight fit. It's about 1mm off the fans at the back and almost touches the northbridge heatsink. I had to 7 volt the fan as at 12 volt it was very loud. But even at 7v the temps are awesome compared to the stock cooler, idling at 30 degrees and never goes above 46 on load.

The final addition was the red cathode at the front which I think adds a nice finishing touch.

Before the mods case temps were just over 40, with the mods the pc is now quieter and case temps are sitting bang on 35. Not bad for a days work!

The only downside with the pc at the moment is a lack of a modular psu which means seriously tight cable fitting inside the case. If I get some money I may consider upgrading to a modular psu.

At the moment the pc is running an E6420 @ 350fsb (max of mobo) with 2gb ram and a 7900gto.
