Hey guys

Simply put I'm after some advice on Mechanical keyboards, mini ones to be more precise. I've decided to upgrade but I'm struggling to find anything that really fits what I'm after. Being a designer I'm using mac keyboards all day everyday and with my limited time for games I'm constantly having to get used to a large clumsy board. Nightmare mashing the wrong binds/keys constantly because of the differences..

I'm looking for something small with the keys nice and tightly packed together. Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations and/or advice on good solid keyboards that may fit this. The closest I've come across to this is a Noppoo choc mini. Any help or recommendations would be awesome..

Cheers

so 60% small.

Ducky have a new one either out or coming out very soon. ocuk sell them.

others that spring to mind are the KBT Pure/KBT Poker/KBT Poker 2

personally i think TKL keyboards are a perfect size, ducky do some of these, Coolermaster Quickfire Rapid is the one i use personally.

As above.

KBT/KBC Poker 2 is an extremely popular choice in this catagory, I love mine. Cheery MX switches, the backlit variant comes with ABS keycaps although I much prefer the non-backlit PTB keycaps.

The new Ducky Mini looks really nice, and is certainly a viable option. Not a huge fan of the new bezel but it can be removed and makes it look even better.

You can really start to get into crazy money with these 60% and even TKL mech boards when you go off-piste (Leopold FC660, PFU Happy Hacking range, Filco Manila) so id stick to the two above unless you really feeling like spending some dosh.

I also have a CM QR Rapid-I and I must say for day to day use the TKL is perfect. Although I use a Ducky Zero at work because I use the NumPad a lot.

Gotta love a 60% though..

Cheers guys, appreciate the response. I think I would prefer one with the F keys on it. Would I be correct in thinking that's a 75% size?

Not massively bothered about the money side of it. I prefer to get quality. It's more a case of getting something reliable and ergonomic.

That is your general arrangement (this is ANSI as opposed to UK ISO) but you get the idea. These are also referred to as Full size, TKL and compact. There are of course other less common variants like the 75% and 90%.

80% is TKL. There are obviously quite a lot more choice for 80% than 60%. If you want F keys id stick to the TKL 80%. The aforementioned CM QF Rapid range and the Ducky Shine/zero TKL are good options here.

Do you have a switch type in mind? I'd usually always recommend Browns unless you have a particular preference.

Cheers bud, that's a big help. I'll probably go for an 80% looking at it, preferably without the unnecessary space between the numbers and f keys, although I've yet to see any so maybe that's a no go.

Not sure really about the switches. I don't want anything to noisy but I do want something that has enough feel/tactility if that makes sense. I'll end up going with what ever is recommended I imagine. If brown is pretty standard then that will do just fine.

Yeah sounds like Browns are perfect.
