Hi all,

my Mac Mini has a fault with the DVD/CD writer. I cant seem to put anything on a CD or DVD. I was trying to make a MP3 disc and kept getting a error something to do with laser and media.

Ive tried about 4 different types of CDs and DVDs but only got 1 to work at 1x !!

Can I get a new drive or have to take it to Apple to fix?

Thanks guys

The superdrives are really, really sensitive to CD's if they have the smallest scratch on them or dust on them, are thy new CD's, or clean CD's?

That's not the problem, Apple will sort it for you no problem, providing it's under warranty.

Edit: I presume you have the latest firmware etc. ?

Didn't realise it was so sensitive!

My mate's just switched to a Mac Mini and he's a complete n00b with Macs (first one for him) so I dare say he'll be calling me because it won't read/burn his cds

...which are always scratched to hell

Yeah, I find it really annoying, I just clean all my CD's before they go in. But it can be a pain in the backside sometimes when the important CD's don't work.
