First of all this is not a flame posting, I like many, love mmo's and was looking forward to this game for a while.

I have only played in beta for maybe 1 week before the game launched so its hard for me to give a full review.

First let me point out to all those who are toying with buying this game, make sure you have a decent spec system with a good shader 2.0 graphics card and at least 1 - 2 gig of memory.

Characters - The usual bunch are there, druids, warrior, etc as well as a few new ones like psionist, but to me they all have the same feel to them and not enough individuality. ( maybe its just me)

My opinion is that this game is still in beta stages, while i know what many of you are thinking that thats the way mmo's launch like which is true, but I can see many getting put off quick.

My first week of playing my main ranger to level 10, I have found that quite a few quests are still bugged, also I have fallen through the landscape 3 times so far. found numerous mobs that are stuck, npc's/mobs that dissapear.

Also one thing that annoys me is where are the helmet and other clothes graphics? as well as bard songs, where are the sound clips when bards play their songs, as well as the cool song graphics. (anyone remember everquest!) I mean its 2007  (sigal say they will be added at a later date)

My main concern with this game is the same old grind sessions of other mmo's i.e kill 9 mobs then hand in, rince and repeat, this for me got very tiresome quick, I really hope they add some variety at later dates, I seem to of lost interest just doing the quests and I cannot explain why.

On the system settings side this is where the main probelms lie, I have a desent system but I have noticed that manualy setting some of the graphic sliders doe's not seem to have any effect.

In one situation I noticed in an area such as a town will manually setting everything to max my fps were showing 20 when using the automatic selector i moved it to max performance which showed 120+ fps, after that I decided to select the max detail option and alter all the sliders to max and to my suprise my fps went up to 40+ thus showing that their a bugs to fix with the settings.

The players are nice, I have grouped up with and added 3 people to my friend list so far, this seems to make grinding a bit better.

Crafting - seems fun, I never like crafting in games but this one has a good feel to it where you actually have an impact on the quality of items you craft, slthough dont go expecting to build boats in a week!! I did non stop crafting fir one day and got my artifactor to level 6.

Diplomacy - I thought the idea of this is good but I can see many people overlooking this as they might get a bit bored with it.

So would I recommend this game?

Maybe, if you want a easy to pick up and fun game go play wow, if you want to try something new then try to get hold of a 10 day pass or wait for a free trial.

Maybe im hoping to get the same buzz as when I fist played everquest back in the day, but I dont think I will be renewing my subscription.

agree 100% They certainly need to be doing a lot more optimizing of the game engine. I hear they are working with Nvidia to sort out some driver-related issues as well. The grind is a bit boring yeah.... ill see come the end of the month how i feel about this game whether to continue with it. The quests so far (newbie ones) are all exactly the same. Kill x amount of creatures and go back to collect reward. Actually sorry thats slightly incorrect, in one quest it was to retrieve an hourglass and a document from a tower infested by these mini-devil type creatures. Still similar i guess..

But the glitches and bugs *destroy* the immersiveness of the environment for sure.

Funny how it sounds like where EQ2 was on release and that has taken 18 months to get where is should have been.

EQ2 was a complete mess, I nearly cried when I saw how power hungry it was, needless to say I never returned it put me off.

Echo sentiment of OP. I tried playing for a bit but game ran like a dog. Uninstalled, stuck it on the shelve and went back to WoW. I'll try again in 8-10 months time.

This game has a lot of potential but still feels like it's in early beta stage in many areas. Crashes, players/mobs vanishing to reappear a few hundred feet away then teleporting back, greatly contrasting graphical quality of mobs ranging from the modern to eq1 standards, some characters having no animations at all (just gliding around) and no anti aliasing were a few of the bugs I noticed whilst I still played.

I still think the game will come good but that it'll take a good six months at least until that happens in which time a sizable chunk of their potential player base will have forgotten all about it and be playing warhammer/lotro/wow which is a shame. I've uninstalled for now, I fully intend on giving it another try but I'm not sure if I'll end up doing so if certain other soon to be released mmos have managed to release a finished product (by mmo standards at least) come their launch day.

I'm a bit angry with this game as leading up to its release it made me want to play mmos again, as it's let me down I've had no option but to activate the spare US copy of wow I've had kicking around for a few years now and grab a tbc key to accompany it. Any excuse ey ;)
