I've got a quick question based on something I saw today.

When approaching a mini roundabout with three exits and all three cars have stopped to give way, what is your personal plan of action?

If two cars decided to take the lead at the same time and hit each other, would the normal 'give way to the right' rules dictate which driver was at fault?

Depends who is indicating to go where, if the person to your right is indicating left first exit then go

happens all the time at a roundabout on my way to work that is near a school, bloody school run mums that can't drive coming from my right, almost always stop even though i have, and then look around dazed as to why im not going.

I really do need to install an inter-car ovary puncher.

They're probably not sure on right of way because you arrive at the roundabout sideways

It is annoying when everyone stops. I tend to be the first to go unless its a taxi driver or something the other side :)

More irritating are people that completely cut the roundabout (drive over it as if it didn't exist - usually on roundabouts that are put in old T junctions to allow traffic out) or arrive at it too quick and expect everyone to jump out the way.

Pretty much exactly the same situation on my way home from work also. I just go. Dithering idiots.

I think there needs to be a signal, like hands off the wheel or something, that drivers in this situation can give to say 'I am definitely not going anywhere until either of you two goes'.
If two of the three do that, then the third can go, free to 'tut' and head-shake and mutter. But probably not because the frustration of not knowing what the other two were planning has been removed.

On mini roundabouts, isn't there always one exit that doesn't have give way markings?

As in, say it has three exits/entrances, two of the three will have double lines across, one will have one set, and in a 'stalemate' situation like that, the one with single lines goes?

I'm sure my bike instructors told me something similar. Whenever it's happened though obviously I can't see the lines on my lanes so it usually turns into everyone sitting there for five seconds until one or more of you go to move off, then all stop, then all go, then all stop, and someone finally actually goes.

edit: This one's close to me, see what I mean?

One entrance is marked differently.

Presumably top lane in pic has to stop because of markings, left entrance in pic has to give way to his right, which leaves bottom entrance as the one who can go. All seems a bit ****ing complex to me. Not quite how I remembered, it's one set of double lines for stop, two sets of single.
