Minimum CPU for FreeNAS

I have a 1155 itx board laying around and I want to play with plex on freeNas, what the minimum cpu I would really need. I was thinking a Xeon 4c/8t? Or can I get away with an 4c/4t

it will only have 1 ssd and 4 HDD’s, and I know plex can be run in an i3 for a very basic set up but I have no experience with freenas

TrueNAS itself is pretty lightweight, what you do with it determines what you need for CPU/Ram. Do you want to run ZFS? Planning to run VMs/containers? If it's a basic setup for just a file/media server you can get away with any CPU.

Pick any CPU and you'll be fine. Most commercial home NAS have low-powered ARM or Celeron/Pentium CPUs.

I used truenas core on a proliant microserver gen10.

Handles plex fine, also run the qbittorrebt app on it for seeding 24/7

Unless you want to smash the NAS with a ton of I/O requests, you can easily make do with a 4c/4t CPU.

And even then, you'd probably max out the HDD controller first.

the question was more ameied at freeNES was the plax app running, if there was say 4 streams hitting it at one time

i ended up buying a very cheap Xeon 1245 v2, i was going to get a 1220v2 there like £20 but i go the 1245 for £30.
4c/8t i cant see me having any problems.
